Neil Adler is a Bay Area Pianist and Chromatic Harmonica musician originally from Detroit, who plays improvised music based on traditional styles. In solo piano or ensemble settings, his rhythmic roots infuse the music with the soulful sound of gospel, rhythm and blues, funk, calypso, salsa, samba and jazz.
He is an in-demand educator in workshops and privately, focusing on his conviction that good rhythm comes first. As leader of his own 'Real Time" Trio he plays unrehearsed, unplanned 'roots music', moving fluidly between songs and styles while playing piano, harmonica and pedal bass. He also performs in several other groups, arranges and composes. His musical activities are subsidized by a medical career but remain the emotional and creative basis of his energy and passion.
